Yet another Way Disney Will Make MORE Millions…
Just when you thought that you had escaped the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT with your wallet and personal finances relatively intact, Disney has found another way to pry the cash from your perspiration laden hands. It was recently announced that Disney launched a new app that gives users full access to its theme park shops and gift stores.
Available for both iPhone and Android as of August 15, the new app allows Disney fans to remotely shop at the different theme park gift shops, many of which have souvenirs sold exclusively at those stores. The app also allows guests, who are in the parks, to search items on the store and be pointed to the nearest shop to buy them in person.
Disney calls this “an extra dash of convenience”, which in a sense it is, but it is also a powerful sales generation tool. Sure, you don’t have to lug a life size Pluto plush onto the plane or get another suitcase for all the crap, I mean souvenirs, that you purchased, but with the push of a button… Poof! Your giant set of Mickey ears will be shipped to your home. Heck, that stuff might even beat YOU home! (TWEET THIS)
If you come across an item you love in Walt Disney World Resort, simply scan its barcode using your device’s camera to view it on the app. From there you can save your favorites and complete your purchase at your leisure—they even keep track of your selections as you enjoy the Resort.
Once you’ve selected your souvenir, simply use the app to ship it to you! They deliver to all 50 states in the U.S. The Order History page lets you track your package as it makes its way from their castle to yours.
This level of “convenience” will certainly encourage parents to relent to the whining child by making purchases easy, simple and without the hassle of lugging tons of stuff through Florida’s heat and humidity.
